Library Procedures

The SKG library cart is available at each regular meeting. Members in good standing may borrow library materials for a one-month period. The Guild does not limit the materials loaned to any one member, but please be considerate of others and limit yourself to the quantity that can comfortably be read or used in one month.

If a member wishes to keep library materials for a longer period, or misses the following meeting (the due date), he or she must contact the Librarian to make arrangements to renew the loan for an additional one-month period. The Librarian's name, telephone number and email address are printed in the newsletter each month.

If an item has been checked out for more than two months without an approved extension, a reminder will be sent from the Librarian, or a reminder will be printed in the Cablegram. Outstanding materials must be returned before additional items may be checked out.

Guild members are responsible for replacement and/or cost of items lost or damaged. Due to highly variable replacement prices, especially on books out of print, the Librarian will determine replacement cost on a case-by-case basis. Guild members who do not make satisfactory arrangements for lost or damaged materials will be denied membership renewal until such arrangements are agreed upon with the Librarian.

To check out a book or DVD:

Each SKG book or DVD contains a card in a pocket, typically inside the front cover. Remove the book card from the pocket and legibly write your name, phone number and/or email address, and the date of checkout. Please make sure that the name listed prior to yours has been crossed out. File the book card in the file box alphabetically by your last name.

To return a book or DVD:

Remove the book card from the file box and cross out your name. Return the book card to the pocket inside the book or DVD and shelve the item on the cart according to the sticker color/shape on the spine. If you are not sure where to shelve the item, ask the Librarian.

SKG maintains a yearly budget for its Library and welcomes suggestions for new acquisitions. Materials are purchased at the Librarian’s discretion as funds permit. Members are encouraged to make donations to the collection. Please contact us to suggest new titles or to make a donation.
