About The Seattle Knitters Guild

Twenty four years ago (1985), after regularly gathering to share ideas about knitting, a group of friends formed the Seattle Knitters Guild. Since that time, our membership has steadily grown and now exceeds 200 members. While most of our members reside in the greater Puget Sound area, we have some members that continue their membership even though they have moved to other parts of the world.

Our goal is to provide a supportive environment for knitters, present programs that stimulate our imagination, and enhance our skills. Some of our members are also involved in educational and philanthropic projects within the greater Seattle area. The guild has grant money available to teach children about knitting.

With an ever growing membership, the Seattle Knitters Guild established by-laws in November 2004. The by-laws include board position definitions, all of which are volunteer.

Our guild meets on a monthly basis for a program presentation and socializing. The evening ends with "show and tell", which allows us to show our projects to others that understand the creative process that we enjoy. Past programs have included technical programs presented by current members and visiting speakers, presentations by designers and local yarn shop owners, and traveling trunk shows.

With a paid membership to the Seattle Knitters Guild, you receive a subscription to SKG Cablegram (the guild's newsletter), borrowing privileges from our extensive library of books and videos, and the opportunity to win a door prize at our annual holiday party held every December.

Membership fees cover the costs of the benefits listed above, and also pay for the meeting space we use. Dues are $22 for one year. You can join by coming to a meeting, or by printing out our membership application form and sending it in along with your dues.

Monthly meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month at the Wedgwood Presbyterian Church, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
